Post Surgical Treatments - ACL Tears (Anterior Cruciate Ligament)
What causes an ACL tear?
Any activity in which the knee is forced into hyperextension and/or internal rotation.
- A loud “pop” at the time of injury
- Knee is unstable and may slip out of joint
- Inflammation and pain that makes movement difficult
How is it diagnosed?
Diagnosis of an ACL tear is by a variety of physical tests and/or X-Ray or MRI.
Post Surgery Treatment
Approximately one week after surgery the patient will begin their rehab program with the physical therapist.
The rehabilitation program designed by your doctor and your physical therapist is critical and has a significant impact on your recovery.
